Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti
Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti or the United People's Party of the Chittagong Hill Tracts is a party formed in 1973 to represent the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts such as the Chakma people, the Marma people and various other groups. The party also fought for autonomy from the state of Bangladesh and ethnic identity and human rights for the minorities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Due to tensions, the Party created the Shanti Bahini or Peace Force to fight against and use force to attempt to enforce the autonomy of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. After the 1997 Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord the Shanti Bahini was formerly disassembled by the party and remains so today.
